Details
The Omega Genève Chronostop Ref. 146.010 is one of the most original timing watches of the late 1960s, and one of the most charming. At a time when every brand was chasing the multi-register chronograph, Omega went the other way and built a "single-button" timer: one pusher, one central hand, and an instant read of elapsed seconds. It was designed for lap times, quick measurements, and anything that needed timing at a glance.
Here's what makes it stand out:
🍷 THE BURGUNDY DIAL
This is the Chronostop color everyone wants. The original burgundy racing-style dial shifts from wine to raspberry as it catches the light, set off by applied silver batons, a crisp white minute track, and that signature orange Chronostop hand. This example is nearly flawless, with rich, even color, clean printing, and nearly mint hands. The "T Swiss Made T" signature dates it to the tritium era.
⚙️ THE CHRONOSTOP CAL. 920
Inside is the manual-wind, 17-jewel Calibre 920, a Chronostop movement with date. The round pump pusher at 2 o'clock starts the orange center hand, stops it, and snaps it back to zero. It's simple, mechanical, and very satisfying to use every day.
🛡️ THE UNPOLISHED CUSHION CASE
The original stainless steel screw-back case has never been polished. It still has much of its factory radial brushing on the broad bezel, which is exactly what collectors look for. At 35mm wide and 39mm lug to lug, the cushion shape wears larger than the numbers suggest. It's triple signed, with a signed Omega crown, and the caseback reads "Waterproof Tested 30m."
