Omega Seamaster "Soccer Timer" Chronograph Ref. 145.020 w/ Cal. 861 c. 1969

The Omega Seamaster Ref. 145.020 "Soccer Timer" is one of the most playful chronographs Omega ever made, and one of the most collectible. At the end of the 1960s, when sports timing was going mainstream, Omega took the same Calibre 861 movement that powered the Speedmaster Professional and built a chronograph meant for the football pitch instead of the moon.

Here's what makes it stand out:

⚽ THE "SOCCER TIMER" DIAL

This dial is pure late-60s color. Over a slate-grey base, the registers are painted for the game: the minute counter has a red-shaded half, and the hour counter is split into red and black quarters, so you can read match time at a glance. Bright orange hour, minute, and chronograph-register hands play against a black tachymeter ring and a crisp white minute track. Nothing else in Omega's catalog looks like it.

And this one is in incredible condition. The colors are vivid, the printing is crisp, and the red registers show no fading. It's the kind of dial collectors hunt for.

⚙️ THE LEGENDARY CAL. 861

Inside is the manual-wind Calibre 861, the same cam-operated chronograph movement used in the Speedmaster Professional of the era. It's robust, reliable, and NASA flight-qualified. You get Moonwatch mechanics in a much rarer package.

The 145.020 wears its era on its sleeve. The broad stainless steel cushion case is about 41mm with brushed and polished surfaces, and the caseback carries the Seamaster hippocampus. The case has real wrist presence but sits comfortably thanks to its sloped, integrated lug design.

It comes on a stainless steel beads-style bracelet that suits the watch's 70s character and wears comfortably. The 22mm lugs also make it easy to put on a leather or rally strap if you'd rather.
